About AnimAJourney
Anima Journey: the journey of one's life principle or soul...We operate around a cluster of values [or preferences] such as:
* The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz : Be impeccable with your word. Don't take anything personally. Don't make
assumptions. Always do your best. And two agreements that make a civilized society possible. Do all you have agreed to do. Foundation of contract law. And do not encroach on other people or their property. Basis of tort law and some criminal law.
* the freedom to choose
* non-smoking
* raw/live organic vegan foods
* solar electric power [completely off-the-grid; no generator back-up]
* growing as much of our own food as possible
* permaculture
* sustainability
Anima Journey is located in rural Hawaii. We are looking for 'friends of Anima Journey': people who are interested in sustainability, organic gardening, veganism, live [raw] foods, solar P.V., and other 'sustainable' practices. While we realize 'sustainable' may be a vague concept, we strive to do our best to live lightly on the planet, grow only organic foods, eat low on the food chain, and live simply. This is where 'birds of a feather flock together.' The center of the universe or the middle of nowhere, you decide :)
Anima Journey began in 2004 after we bought land on the south end of the Big Island. Developing it almost all by hand [we had some bulldozing done], we finally have reached a point where we can invite visitors to our 'sustainable' property!
Allan and Willow are land partners and platonic friends putting our energy into a project that is fun and challenging, we continue to make progress daily and invite you come and help or watch.
Allan, NH: Allan has decades of experience with personal growth. health, nutrition, breath work, and more. He has 14 years experience developing an eco-village, as well as 13 years experience in a group marriage. Allan has been vegetarian since 1976, a vegan since 1999, and a raw fooder since 2000. Currently, Allan eats a 99%+ raw/live foods diet. Because he actively explores, researches and applies his wealth of knowledge in these areas, Allan is the ideal health coach. He is specifically interested in custom longevity programs for the individual.
A brief story of Allan's life: raised in Dixon California population of 3000. Joined the Navy reserves at age 18 with two years active duty to keep from being killed in Vietnam, and spent six months in a combat zone in the Tonkin Gulf. Then I got a nine month cut in service time due to cut-backs in the war. I received a two year AA degree in auto body with one year independent study building a wind generator I never completed. Got legally married Moved to Oregon to be part of an eco- village project. Remodeled a 1910 house Got a divorce. Built the first portable house and moved onto 1100 acres of land that had a lake at the bottom and was facing south. I thought I would spend the rest of my life there.
Helped start the Homestead Neighborhood that peaked at thirteen people and children. Started a specific type of group marriage called polyfidelity for thirteen years: first two people, then four people, then three people in the marriage . Moved to Eugene Oregon in 1980. Syntony family remodeled a 1915 house in the university area,which took five years. We started doing PePtalk and PeP conferences which eventually changed from PEP to Loving More. A magazine called "Loving More" was begun, and was produced for something like eleven years. Moved to Hawaii because Oregon didn't have enough sun. My family and I started a solar business (retail for seven years). Family moves to Boulder, CO. I stay in Hawaii six months out of the year, because of the weather. I did this for five years, and now am in Hawaii full-time. Family transitioned to extended family; extended family then transitioned to friends. I continue doing repairs, building structures [especially concrete], and solar PV. I built the first proto-type dome [in which I call "Concrete School One". Buy land in a more favorable place to grow fruit trees [more rain]. Chainsaw a lot of invasive christmas berry to hack out a "center of the universe" [or some might say the middle of nowhere] . Develop a ten to twenty year plan that will create the two to four hundred year concrete structures, with integrated art, garden, orchard. Want to build up 'friends of AnimAJourney'. This ten to twenty year plan is what I call the "illusion of security" project. Looking at a step-by-step process of "Concrete School 3" projected to take three to four years to build a concrete kitchen, living room center, unless I get help and that makes it take longer :)
Willow: Willow has been working with people in a variety of fields since 1994 after she earned her Master's in Social Work. Having earned a Ph.D. in 2001, she has been teaching for more than 12 years. Willow has been a vegetarian since 1981, a vegan since 1992, and a raw fooder since 2000. With a knowledge of research, diet, health, nutrition, she is a caring and empathetic listener who loves to support people in learning.
