- longevity
- temperature modulation [stays cooler on warm days; warmer on cool days]
fireproof
sound-proof [well, keeps out much more sound than most other building materials] - resistance to pests such as termites
- requires much less maintenance than most other building materials
- fairly easy to clean
- newer and more 'sustainable' concrete products are being developed
- once built, they can be painted so that they look amazing - not like a boring ol' grey concrete structure
- and others
We have fantasies about building some amazing concrete structures, as well as educating others about them. And, until one has lived in a concrete structure, they don't seem as wonderful. We [Willow and Allan] have both had that experience, and really enjoyed living in the concrete dome we lived in.
This interesting [if one is interested in such things as building with concrete] documentary on concrete is a great introduction and orientation to it, as well as showing some amazing new concrete mixtures/products being developed! It also shows and discusses some concrete buildings that have been standing for almost 2,000 years! We hope you watch it; it isn't as much of a yawner as it may seem! :)
